My Fundraising Progress: $875
Why am I doing the Believe Walk?
Dear family and friends,
In October 2003, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Testicular Cancer. After two surgeries, four rounds of chemotherapy, and many prayers, I was able to beat it! In 2014, after being clear for 10 years, I met my oncologist for a final visit. This summer marked the 14 year anniversary of the victory over cancer.
In solidarity with those who are currently in the thick of battle, I have organized a team from The First Baptist Church of Redlands to take part in the Stater Brothers Charities Believe Walk. The Believe Walk will happen October 7, 2018 and will raise money for cancer treatment and research in the Inland Empire.
Through past Believe Walks, more than $2 million has been raised to help organizations like Redlands Community Hospital, St. Bernardine's Medical Center, and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Oncology. It has supported Michelle's Place, a breast cancer resource center in Temecula; the Cancer Resource Center at Loma Linda University Hospital; and other local resource centers that offer hope and support to those in the throes of cancer. The Believe Walk is a community organized, grassroots event that has made a real difference in the lives of local cancer patients.
It seems like every few weeks I find out that someone I know has been diagnosed with cancer. Since so many people we love have been touched by cancer, would you join me in this worthy cause? How many people do you know that have been touched by cancer? Take a moment to list as many names as you can, and consider donating just $5 or $10 for each name you list. Or you could just make it an even $100 and tell cancer to “Take a hike!”
Thank you in advance for your support.
